TRYING TO FIND MY MOJO AGAIN
Anyone else out there a little bit stuck, a bit in limbo, without motivation and really finding it hard to get back into work after the festive season finished?
I decided to take 2 weeks off from social media, no posting at all and wanting time with my family and friends after Christmas. OK. So I may have posted once or twice on Instagram and a few Instagram stories of our summer holiday away but essentially I tried to keep off my phone and be more present with my family.
I must say as a blogger where social media is basically like a third child, it was hard to wean myself off, #fomo and all that. But after taking those few weeks off I realised just how much I am on my phone, editing photos, writing blog posts, checking emails, looking at updates and it makes harder to stay present.
I got so much done though; cleaned the house from top to bottom, the oven, dusted, vacuumed, built Lego storage, filing, baked, scrubbed the shower and bath, made a monthly meal planner, weekly schedule and I even did some scrapbooking!
When I started back on social media after my hiatus I realised how easily and quickly I get sucked back into the rabbit hole! It is hard to stop looking at updates, pictures, reading about people’s lives, their kids but generally doing nothing in your own life whilst you are down that vortex.
Then I found I needed to do blogging work, work on my Bazaar and found it was easier to get sucked down the social media hole then try to motivate myself to do work. School holidays certainly didn’t help.
I also realised that I have an addiction to news sites, and well when I don’t want to do any work I flick over to the Guardian or Daily Mail to basically procrastinate my life away!!
Any other mamas out there struggling to get back on track now that we are all meant to be goal setting, and planning for the business year ahead?
