WE LOVE HELLO KIT CO
We love a good party. We love good party decor and decorations even more. So when we found the AMAZING Hello Kit Co. It was love at first sight. Plus. They ladies behind the brand are all sorts of AWESOME too. Great brand. Great product. Great service. Great people. Uh huh. Some of the best cake toppers, party packs, wrap packs, pom poms and more. Curated kits full of fun and colour to help you celebrate and decorate.
Our first purchase was a neon cake topper for Frey Frey's 2nd Birthday. And just like the birthday tradition of attempting to make a Womens Weekly Birthday Cake each year, we will be getting our shop on every birthday to get our party supplies from the beauties at Hello Kit Co.
Lisa and Bianca were both Visual Merchandisers before having children and their shared passion for creating fabulous things was the reason Hello Kit Co began. And we love it.
TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS AND HOW IT ALL BEGAN.
Out business is Hello Kit Co. We’re all about Celebrating and Decorating. As visual merchandisers/stylists we had so many unique ideas that we wanted to bring to life.
Over the years, we had worked with some fantastic brands, concepts and suppliers and we thought that it would be fun to bring some of this into people’s homes – just like the retail and commercial jobs we had worked on.
We try to source and (if something that we want doesn’t exist), develop products, specifically so they work together well as a story. That’s the visual merchandising and styling side of our experience, it’s always a driving force.
We have tried to really ‘Kit’ up and create stories key products, so executing an aspirational look and feel is achievable for everyone. We have also tried to keep things really affordable – our cake toppers, confetti and poppers are price-accessible. We have explored local production options where possible as well. We love the idea of supporting local!
WHAT IS YOUR IDEA OF THE PERFECT PARTY SET UP.
A perfect party is different for everyone! It is one specifically suits the person who it is for. It’s always the thought that counts! That said, bigger, blingier and brighter is generally always better!
HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE MUM LIFE WORK LIFE JUGGLE.
It’s messy! There is no formula. We prioritise the kids first always. And then we focus on the big and most important things and TRY not to sweat the small stuff (Who are we kidding!?). We kinda love the small stuff too.
THROUGHOUT YOUR BUSINESS JOURNEY, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS THE BIGGEST LESSON YOU HAVE LEARNT IS.
Everything always seems to take longer than we think. We are possibly not the most patient of people and time is so limited. We have learnt that virtually nothing happens quickly!
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST BUSINESS HURDLE.
Definitely trying to launch a business part-time. Not being able to do all of the amazing things you know you can and possibly should. But also being accepting of this. We are busting with ideas, but some days, we might not jump onto our computer’s till 9pm.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE STARTING A SMALL BUSINESS.
Just do it! Jump in! Have a go! You will be surprised by the level of positivity and support. Starting a business of your own allows your ideas and experience as an individual, to have an positive outlet. It’s so important as an individual to maintain that sense of identity and purpose – alongside being a parent.
WHAT IS PLANNED FOR HELLO KIT CO'S FUTURE.
SO much! We have some cool Halloween Front Door Kits coming up and Christmas Kits, stockings, sacks, confetti! So much fun! We love the idea that we may be able to help make celebrating and decorating a bit easier and totally achievable for everyone.
We definitely are inspired by each other’s ideas! The concept of infinite possibilities in our business is always super motivating and so much fun!
WORD THAT MAKES YOU LAUGH.
It’s more of a thing…a monster.
WHAT ARE YOU NO GOOD AT.
For me it’s ironing and dancing. Sigh.
Cash registers! We even used the calculator for $2 sales at our market stall.
WHAT IRKS YOU.
For me it is drivers who talk-text on their phones!
Slow walkers! And generally people that don’t move quickly and use time effectively!
