Holy HECK BALLS. Sponsored. Ad. Collab. Partner. Gifted. Whatever you want to call it. However you want to spin it. We know there has been a whole lot of hoo-ha-finger-pointed-tut-tuttin going on. Who is doing what. Who is saying what. Who is declaring. And who isn’t.
We thought the hoo-ha had simmered. But apparently it hasn’t. Perhaps the #partner #workingwith #collab hashtags are getting all up in peoples grills.

DON’T WORRY ABOUT WHAT OTHERS ARE DOING. JUST WORRY ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

We say meh. Don't worry about what others are doing. Sure. You have to declare. Yes there are still some grey areas. And yes. It used to irk us a little when people didn’t seem to play by the rules. There may have been an eye twitch or two. Perhaps an eyeroll. But not anymore. Now. We just worry about what we are doing.

We do feel we know why some people don't choose to disclose- declare. Or do a sneaky disclose-declare. For some of us. Our #ads are our lowest performing. As if our followers don't love that we've done it. That’s cool. We get that.

But please understand that for some it is a ‘job’. Some of us take pride in what we do. Who we say yes to. And why we do it. We do our best to take quality photos. Write quality words. And hit the brief given by the client or business. Yup. It takes time. Not everyone slaps up a whatever photo and whatever words. Nup.

WE DO POLITELY DECLINE. WE DO SAY NO. IF IT’S NOT SOMETHING WE LOVE.

We are lucky enough to be gifted goodies and asked to work with brands and businesses on sponsored posts. We do politely decline. We do say no. If it's not something we love. We only say yes if we truly love it. Truly would use it. Wear it. Share it. Only ever say yes if it suits our style. Our vibe. Us.

DIDN’T KNOW
To be fair. Not everyone knows. Not every influencer knows. Nope. Some people really are not they need to be declaring. So here is an idea, if you are a friend of theirs, or know them well enough, perhaps give them a friendly behind-the-scenes heads up. Don’t go all postal on their feed. #notcool

IF YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT. THEN PLEASE STAY IN THAT BLISSFUL BUBBLE OF THE UNKNOWN.

BUSINESS BADS
Every business and/or brand that pays someone for a post SHOULD stipulate what tags to use. Yup. So if you are business or brand, please make sure you let people know what #hashtags people + influencers should be using. And if you are an person or influencer being paid by a business or brand, ask what #hashtags you should be using.

HIDDEN HASHTAGS
Yes. Some influencers choose to disguise their #hashtags amoungst other #hashtags. To be fair. At least they declare. Don’t get all up in their grills either. Deep breath. Move along. Think happy #hashtag thoughts.

GIFTED GREY AREA
Technically you do NOT have to declare #gifted items at this stage. But we do believe it is nice to either mention you have been gifted something in the caption or hashtag #gifted. It gives us the warm and fuzzies.

DON’T CARE TO DECLARE
So if the influencer or person doesn’t seem to care about playing by the rules. As one of the ladies in Frozen* said.... "Let it go. Let it go". We are not the #hashtag police. So let them do their thang. Sure it’s not awesome. But totally not worth our while getting all bent out of shape. If they do keep doing it. Perhaps it will catch up with them one day. And bite them on the tooshy. Just don’t let it ruin your day.

BE TRUE TO THE BRANDS AND THE BUSINESSES YOU ARE WORKING WITH. BE TRUE TO YOURSELF.

Whatever way they work it. Meh.  Only worry about how you work it. If you are keeping it real. Keeping it honest. Being true to the brands and businesses you work with. And being true to yourself. That's all that flippin matters.
